Alaska
Welcome to Anchorage, Alaska - my 50th state visited!!! I couldn't be happier completing my life long journey to see all the States! :)
A beautiful morning sunrise just above the snow covered mountains.
Help! A giant bear has grabbed me!
The Transalaskan pipeline alongside the Dalton highway.
Reaching the Arctic Cirle!
We were lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights that evening (even with a forecast of 1 out of 10)!
We negotiated our way to visit a real sled dog house with dogs training for the Iditerad.
My favorite 2 girls! They have harnesses on as they would be pulling us on our modified sleds!
Awwww. One of the older dogs on the property.
Here we go! Up to 12 mph, it's not a bad way to travel
The Holgate glacier out by Seward, Alaska! Such a great wildlife and glacier tour. Here we saw part of the glacier crash into the water as it's falling apart rapidly
A sea otter. On this trip we also saw sea lions, oracs, and a humpback whale jump out of the water and give us a whale tail showing!
Just had to go to the North Pole and check out the Santa Claus house. Here Rich and I are posing in front of the big sign!
Actual reindeer :)
Downtown Fairbanks with the eskimo statue. (the Golden Heart of AK)
We visited Fairbanks University and checked out the social center. Even saw McKinley and Denali range.
Very interesting as most cars this far north have a plug sticking out of their front end to hook up directly with the plethora of outlets in parking lots due to most engines not starting in the winter!
Yummy!!!! The best filet mignon steak ever... At Club Paris in Anchorage
We just had to visit Wasilla out there in the Mat Su range.
We saw a few good luck Sarah Palin signs in the city (it's her hometown).
Watch out for moose!! On our way back from the Artic Circle tour we almost ran into one on the highway.
The Captain Cook monument. What a hike it was up the hill to find the "shortcut" :)
