Pensacola

We were back at it again - this time exploring the Gulf Coast (Pensacola, Mobile, Biloxi and New Orleans). So completely scrapping our pre-trip plans, we decided to drive due west to check on New Orleans instead of 2 beach days! Gotta love 70 degree days in Feb.

Downtown Mobile, Alabama. Yep not too exciting of a city, but we did get to try good old Checkers for lunch and Rich enjoys their fries. And one of the most interesting tunnels to reach a city I've seen.

The USS Battleship Alabama in Mobile Bay. "The Only battleship according to the approaching signs". And please make sure to watch your step you might want to avoid the mudd...

Fires in the Mississippi national forests due to those terrible tornado/thunder strikes a few days ago

So we finally reached New Orleans, checked out the riverfront area, the levees, the steamboat and then made it Bourbon street for a great CAJUN dinner on the 2nd floor balcony!

Here I am at Razoo's - my favorite club on Bourbon street. I'm sporting my "fluer de lis" beads!

The superdome downtown!

We had to. When back in Pensacola we went to a greyhound track (dog racing). Amazing how many people show up for this and that white rabbit and teddy bear whistling around the rail (to get the dogs to chase) is ridiculiously FAST!

Checked out some casinos in Biloxi, MS. Here is a nightime shot of the Gulf of Mexico.

Pensacola is the home of the Blue Angels. We didn't get to see them perform, but something to remember!

A museum in downtown Pensacola. Not as lively as we expected - small and kinda quite on a Saturday, but nevertheless has some sweetness.

Perdido Beach just off the coast of Pensacola where the "Whitest Sands" exist in the world... according to locals. But great taking a walk along the beach. A quick stop at the post office and then we were ready for our return flight!

Great time!
